A born performer, Morris Walker has spent the majority
of his life entertaining. He has been performing as
long as his illustrious friend Steve Martin. They have
known each other for over forty five years and in the
early years performed together constantly.
Later Morris entertained in the
early comedy clubs as a stand up comedian; singer, guitar
player , and then began performing with his partner
and wife Lynn. Together they entertained in every possible
venue in America and Vietnam when they volunteered to
perform for the USO during the Vietnam conflict. They
continued to tour for many years as freelance videographers
and entertainers. After their kids, Skye and Amoris
were old enough to hit the road they formed the family
band the Earthwalkers and performed over a thousand
concerts together nationwide. Now grown, Skye and Amoris
still perform with the family band on special occasions.
During these years, Mr. Walker also
acquired a degree in marketing and commercial art. Copywriting
and writing articles, short stories, comedy routines,
poems and songs have produced a unique expertise of
superlative humorous storytelling and writing. His on-stage
and screen persona is perfectly honed.
The author's memories of knowing Steve
Martin for over 40 years transcend a typical biographer's
ability to document personality because when he became
a close friend with Steve they were just young boys.
In addition, the time period devoted to acquiring materials
and Mr. Walker's deep abiding admiration and friendship
make this book a rare gem, and a must read for all fans
of Steve Martin, and comedy in general.
Mr. Walker has written this book in
a witty style honed through the years of writing and
performing on stage and television It is testimony to
a true generosity of spirit rarely attributed to Hollywood
superstars. Steve Martin fans will love this book because
it is, as Steve Martin calls it, "a beautiful walk
down memory lane.
